Dr. Michael A. Juan, Ph.D., is a Clinical Psychologist practicing in San Diego, California. Currently, he works as a faculty psychologist at San Diego State University’s Counseling and Psychological Services. Michael is also in private practice providing psychotherapy, training, and consultation services. Additionally, he provides clinical trainings across Southern California and is an adjunct faculty member at a number of local universities.
At SDSU, Michael works directly with students and the university community. He has vast experience in both the direct provision of therapeutic services as well as clinic management and administration. He has worked over a decade in community mental health, serving individuals with severe mental illness as a therapist as well as managing community mental health centers located in south San Diego county. Prior to these roles, Michael has 6 years of experience working in behavioral programs for children and adolescents with autism and other developmental disorders. He completed his B.S. in Psychology at the University of California, San Diego and obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University, San Diego.
Dr. Juan has remained active in the community through work with numerous non-profit organizations. He has served as a board member for Kalusugan Community Services – a non-profit focused on health promotion for the Filipino and other under-served communities of San Diego – and Interactions 4 Peace – an organization focused on peace promotion and teaching children conflict resolution skills. He has specific interests in the areas of diversity and multicultural counseling, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, leadership, identity development, and severe and persistent mental illness.
